Welcome to The Gate 14 Ultra, a 24-hour, 60-mile, 480 rep endurance challenge.
The race will consist of 8 3-hour rounds. Each round will consist of:
a) a 7.2 mile run from Gate 14 Redondo to Gate 14 El Segundo (or vice-versa, depending on the round)
b) 60 dumbbell ground-to-overhead repetitions (Rx: 45#/30#)
Athletes will all begin each round together at the designated gym. Odd rounds (1,3,5,7) will begin at Gate 14 Redondo. Odd rounds (2,4,6,8) will begin at Gate 14 El Segundo. They will have 3 hours to complete the run (via designated route along the strand) and the 60 dumbbell repetitions. Any leftover time will be the only rest that you get for the race. If scaled weights are needed, event staff will provide them. Athletes can quit at any time and must start each round on time.
The race can be completed individually or in teams of 2-4 people. For teams, each complete round (run and reps) must be completed by one athlete. You aren't allowed to split the run and reps up between multiple teammates. However, each teammate can complete as many rounds as that team sees fit. Rounds to not need to be split evenly amongst teammates.
Rounds begin every three hours starting at 8am on Saturday January 18.
Round 1 (Start at Redondo): 8am
Round 2 (Start at El Segundo): 11am
Round 3 (Start at Redondo): 2pm

Event registration will take place at the El Segundo location at 6pm on Friday January 17, during which time athletes will be allowed to store personal items for the next day. Details on teams will be taken during Event Registration.
Volunteers will be assigned to work various shifts at one or both of the gyms. They will be responsible for helping athletes fuel and hydrate, take care of any minor scrapes or injuries, and making sure the facilities are ready to go. Volunteers will coordinate with event planner Sarah Little during Event Registration on Friday January 17.
Good luck! Fail better!
